Voodoo

Built by Pachoud Motor Yachts and designed by Roger Hill, Voodoo was on show at the Auckland International Boat Show 2011, turning heads with her modern sculptural lines and high-tech helm.

Brett Geldard was tasked with putting together a Simrad electronics package that would match the high quality of the boat. As Voodoo is to be used for family cruising and fishing and also extended voyages to the Pacific Islands, the robust Simrad NSO platform was recommended in conjunction with Nobeltec VSS11 charting.

‘She features the latest Nobeltec navigation software, go-anywhere internet access and Fleet Broadband weather forecasting which, when combined with her turn of speed should allow her to exploit short weather windows for safe ocean passages. “With the technology aboard, there’s really no excuse to get caught out by the weather…,” says designer Roger Hill.’

Electronics Package:

• 3 x 19” high resolution LED screens
• Simrad NSO processor operating 6kW open array radar
• Simrad black box high performance broadband fish finder with 1kW thru hull transducer
• Simrad AP28 autopilot - linked through the NSO displays which can be totally controlled via the main displays thus eliminating the need for an autopilot control.
• Intellian i2 satellite television antenna
• Simrad RS10 VHF radio
•  Fleet Broadband 150 supplied for offshore data and voice

Some Feedback:

The black box fish finder is achieving excellent bottom lock in excess of 30 knots and the owner loves the simplicity of the system and the lightning-fast processing of the NSO system.

The package was installed by Brent Ireland of Pachoud Motor Yachts and commissioned by Scott Bailey from Advance Trident Ltd.
